Charleston, South Carolina

In mid August, my boyfriend and I decided it was time for a covid-safe vacation! Charleston, SC is about 4 hours away from where we live in North Carolina so it was a nice, quick weekend getaway. It was my first time there and I was excited to explore and see what the hype was all about! Let’s just say, that we will be going back once the world is “normal” again. It is such a cozy, quaint city that has so much history.

Hotel

We stayed at the Renaissance Hotel in the Historic District which was the perfect location due to its proximity to all of the amazing shops and restaurants! The hotel was very rustic and easy to access with a parking garage across the street. Located right off of the famous King Street where all of the chic boutiques, high end markets, and delicious brunch places are within walking distance. There is a coffee shop inside and a Starbucks is close by if you are a coffee fanatic like us!

Activities

We spent a day at Folly Beach where we recorded a lot of our travel video which you can watch again here! Beautiful weather, great waves, and plenty of R&R.

My favorite activity of the trip was our candle making class at Candlefish. Because of Covid, our workshop had a total of four people which made for a very fun and enjoyable experience that we won’t forget! We were able to learn a lot about the process, choose our candle scents, and become little scientist as we created our two custom take home candles. We had to pick them up the next day before we hit the road and headed home. I think this is a nice romantic date idea or fun bachelorette trip weekend experience!

Since our hotel was right off of King Street, we walked and explored shops, and stopped by Charleston’s City Market. Also, be sure to stop by the American Theater where the movie theater scene was recorded in The Notebook movie!

Breakfast/brunch: Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit, Millers All Day, and Eli’s Table

For dinner or lunch, we enjoyed some seafood at The Darling Oyster Bar, a flavor packed meal at Butcher and Bee, and amazing sushi from 0-ku.

Since we only spent a few days in Charleston and plan to visit again soon.

Until next time….
