Nashville Native Guide to the City!

Kittenish, NashvilleNashville has grown so much in the past few years so I am proud to call it my hometown! The city is very photogenic with murals all over from 12 South to East Nashville. If you are in town for a bachelor/bachelorette party, weekend getaway, or romantic vacation, this amazing city has a lot to offer for all ages! Nashville is a reasonably small city so it is easy to get around and always has something going on. There are so many cute areas to visit so here are a few of my favorite spots that are tried and true.

Exploring murals! Nashville is full of unique photo opt spots, you just have to find them. The mural pictured above is in 12 South- a very cute (must visit!) and hip part of Nash. This area is full of coffee shops (Frothy Monkey, Portland Brew, and White Bison Coffee) boutique shops, restaurants (Bar Taco, Josephine, Burger Up, The Flipside, and Edley’s Bar-B- Que to name a few) Something to note about Nashville is that most restaurants always have a wait… so get there early and put your name on the list!

The food! Nashville has some of the best with Instagram worthy pictures for all foodies. From our signature hot chicken to adorable brunch spots, here are a few you must try on your next visit!

Breakfast/Brunch

Pinewood Social- Located downtown, this trendy spot serves brunch, Crema Coffee, and has an indoor bowling alley! Parking is easily available right in front but I would get there early and be prepared to wait as this place gets busy. The food is amazing and due to its location, the views of the city are even better!

Milk and Honey- Located in The Gulch, this breakfast spot opened a few years ago and the line has not stopped since. It is always packed so I recommend putting your name on the list early and exploring the super cute Gulch area while you wait! I have spotted several country music stars here so you just never know who you’ll be seated next to.

Franklin Juice Company- If there is one place that I miss most about the city… it is this delicious acai and juice company. I mean it is the BEST acai I have ever had! You get a lot for your money and it is worth every bite. Located on 12 South, in Franklin, along with several other locations across Nashville!

Loveless Cafe- This historic cafe is probably one of the most popular breakfast spots in all of Nashvegas. Located about 30 minutes out of the city but definitely worth the drive. It is off the city path but full of southern comfort favorites for everyone in your group to enjoy!

Lunch/Dinner

McDougals- I use to work at Vanderbilt University and would walk to McDougals in Hillsboro Village for lunch. This is a popular spot for students, staff, and doctors in the area. Sooo good and such a cute hidden gem that was once a home turned into a business. I recommend you try the honeybee sauce! There is limited seating so I would get your order to go just in case you don’t find a table. Best part is that you get free ice cream at the end of your meal :)

Prince’s Hot Chicken- Sure Hattie B’s is also a great option but very overhyped and the lines are always out the door. If you want the best hot chicken, you should try this local favorite. They have a location near the city and you can also find their food truck.

The Pharmacy- Amazing burgers and floats located in cozy East Nashville. This part of town is very up and coming but still contains historic roots. Perfect for lunch or dinner to enjoy in their biergarden!

Burger Up- Another delicious burger joint with two locations in Nashville. Located in East Nashville and 12 South where I have had my fair share of their amazinggg sweet potato fries.

Martin’s BBQ- Looking for some great southern barbecue? Hands down, I would recommend Martins. Great food and several locations across the state!

Bombay Palace- If you love Indian food as much as I do, then this is your spot. Located on West End across from Vanderbilt University, my coworkers and I would walk over for lunch all the time. Looks simple from the outside but this narrow spot is packed with flavor. I recommend the chicken korma with garlic naan!

Of course there is downtown Nashville with live music, drinks, and food for nightlife entertainment. During the day, go explore The Gulch, Hillsboro Village, 12 South, Germantown, 5th and Broadway, and East Nashville. All of these areas are full of small local shops, coffee, and adventure. For a little bit more of a quaint Nashville experience, you can drive about 30 minutes to Franklin, Tennessee. Downtown Franklin is full of small local businesses and great southern comfort food. A lot of celebrities live out there because it is close to the city with a true country vibe.. but I didn’t tell you this little secret ;)

The Nashville Farmers’ Market is open year round with a diverse foodcourt, local crafts, and fresh produce. Shop local if you can and help Nashville grow!

I hope you fall in love with the city on your next visit and create some amazing memories! XOXO, LN
