Turks and Caicos Honeymoon

Omar and I postponed our honeymoon due to Ramadan and were so excited to finally start planning in May. We are not a plan in advance couple… soo we tend to book things spur of the moment. We decided two weeks before our honeymoon to book a trip to the Maldives buttttt then had to cancel last minute due to monsoon season and expected thunderstorms. Considering it is over 20 hours of flight time and a once in a lifetime vacation, we decided to play it safe and postpone the Maldives until January (our birthday month and their peak season) Which left us with a few days to book a new trip since we already made arrangements with work and our businesses to take time off. After a bit of research, we decided on Turks and Caicos due to the weather, beaches, and location (about a 4 hour flight from the USA!) The only thing we had ever heard about this beautiful country was the celebrity sightings which made us think that it must truly live up to the hype!

Grace Bay Club, Turks and CaicosWhere we stayedWe stayed at Grace Bay Club- golden hour beach pictured above. The views... I cannot begin to explain how beautiful this piece of heaven truly is. We had a 1748 square foot villa which included one bedroom, two bathrooms, full kitchen, living room, dining area, and oceanfront balcony. Worth every single penny because the resort had so much to do with amazing service, food, and activities. First of all, we wanted a resort that had great onsite restaurant options, water sports, and a spa. Grace Bay had it all with airport shuttle included- a must on the island. There are no Ubers but a lot of taxis which are costly so beware. With a full breakfast buffet, amazing on-site dining, private beach dinners, and beach side food and drinks (virgin pina coladas for us!) there is something for everyone.

Infiniti Restaurant & Raw BarWhere we ateWe enjoyed a full week on the island where we relaxed and took in all the calories, sun, and hotel amenities. I recommend ordering tacos on the beach from Just Tacos or walking a few miles down to Somewhere Cafe and Lounge for tasty Tex-Mex! The only time we ventured out with a taxi was to try the highly recommenced Sui Ren, located at The Shore Club, for some sushi. Coco Bistro was another popular dinner spot that we wanted to try but could not get a reservation during our stay. From what we were told, it is delicious but make reservations far in advance. If you ever go, you’ll have to let me know what we missed out on :)

Katie May Dress from RevolveWhat we didThe best part of the vacation was truly just the calmness of our beach front resort. The beautiful blue ocean made for some crazy sunburns and amazing water sport memories. The hotel offered free sailing, paddle boarding, and kayaks- of which we took advantage of! There is also a shipwreck, La Famille Express that you can actually get on and explore. You can take a jet ski or boat cruise but I would be cautious for it is rusty and decaying. Another fun and free activity were the bicycles provided by the hotel. We went for a quick stroll through the city and were able to see a few local shops/markets. For our last day, it rained so we were able to book a couple massage at the onsite Anani Spa.

My favorite outfit of the trip was this beautiful Show Me Your Mumu Halter Dress in the color champagne luxe satin paired with Target earrings! The dress was very long on me since I am only 5’3” but I just made it work since there was no time for alterations before our trip.
