Pisa, Italy
The tower was indeed leaning lol
The second city on our two week vacation in Italy was a day trip to Pisa. If you missed my Rome blog, you can catch up on our itinerary across Italy here! I have to say that out of all the places we visited, Pisa surprised me the most. I did a lot of research for Rome, Florence, Venice… and like many people, we really only went for the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Oh but now I wish we had spent more time here to explore this quaint and beautiful city. My husband and I took our time walking around, rented Bird scooters, and enjoyed a peaceful cappuccino by the water. Highly recommend a day trip here where you can get lost and wander into the town like we did. Of course you can’t miss the Tower of Pisa for a photo op too!

Travel
We took a three hour train ride on ItaliaRail from Rome to Pisa which ended up being so easy and convenient. I will say though that the trains leave on the exact scheduled time and they check your tickets on the train so have them handy. I recommend downloading the app if you plan on purchasing several rides for easy access.
Bag storage
Since it was only a day trip to Pisa before our next stop, we needed somewhere to stow our luggage. A short walk away from the central train stain is Stow Your Bags which was reasonably priced and secure. We were able to travel on the train with our suitcases, stow them for a few hours, then grab them before the train left to Florence.
Getting around the city
The Leaning Tower of Pisa is about a 20-30 minute walk away from the train station or you can take a taxi. If you’re anything like us, take the scooters instead to explore the city. This was a convenient way to get around on our own, get lost, and have fun as we roamed the streets of Pisa.
What we ate
Before visiting, we heard great things about the famous I Porci Comodi sandwich shop so we decided to give it a try- and it did not disappoint! There are a lot of pork options on the menu but since my husband and I don’t eat pig, we were sure to order bresaola (pictured below). 11/10 meal as we enjoyed it at the near by park since it was a beautiful day for a picnic!
