Happy New Year! Ahhh- I cannot believe 2020 is over. I did not expect to end the year engaged, but on December 28th, Omar proposed at the beautiful North Cascades National Park in Washington State. What started out as a last minute road trip out west, where we decided to wing every step of the journey, turned into the most magical time of our lives! I am so excited to tell the story and document how our trip went down.

First of all, the VIEW! I mean pictures do not do it justice and I cannot imagine a more beautiful, private moment that we shared. Omar nailed the location, the ring, and the surprise. These photos were taken at Diablo Lake which we were lucky enough to have to ourselves as we took in the amazing weather and depths of sunshine all around.

There was no planning ahead of time for the trip, no packed winter clothes with us, and no destination in sight! We started our travels in Seattle where we stayed the first night at the Residence Inn by Marriott Downtown. The next morning, we located the nearest Target to get some winter gear because it sure was cold compared to our North Carolina weather. Everything we wore was from Target except for our boots- we had to get a good pair from Dick’s Sporting Goods to survive the chilly snow weather we were about to endure. After exploring Starbucks Reserve Seattle Roastery (a must!), we went to Pike Market Place which I could go on and on about! I recommend the mac and cheese from Beecher’s and the beef hom bow from Mee Sum Pastry.

Pre- engagement picture in Seattle before we drove to Mount Vernon to stay the night. The next morning we spent the day at North Cascades National Park which was absolutely breathtaking! Anddd then the proposal happened. He set up the cameras and drone (which he always does for our travel videos so I didn’t think anything of it) Then bam, on one knee while I said the easiest yes of my life!

Glacier National Park Whitefish, MT

To wrap up our time at the park, we spent most of the remaining part of the day without cellphone service while we were out exploring. This really allowed us time to soak it all in together and talk through it all before we shared the news with our family and friends. There were a lot of tears and excited screams as we celebrated not only our engagement, but also my sisters since she was proposed to just days before ours- Congrats Hanna!

We ended our engagement night in Spokane, Washington and stayed at the beautiful Davenport Grant Autograph Collection Hotel. This hotel was so cozy with great views of the city as we watched the snow fall from our room window. I recommend booking dinner at the private Igloos located on the property for a one of a kind dining experience!

To end our amazing adventure, we stayed two nights in Whitefish, Montana and visited Glacier National Park. Since Montana was an absolute dream, be sure to check out our full experience here!
